"Cabelas boasts 176,000 sq.ft. of floor space ... with every imaginable item for the avid hunting, fishing and camping enthusiast."

Cabelas was the 'hot-ticket' that sparked the construction boom at The Highlands. It's no wonder as Cabelas has become the 'must stop' superstore for millions of outdoor enthusiasts since opening in August, 2004. With a massive 176,000 square feet of floor space Cabelas stocks about every imaginable item for the avid hunting, fishing and camping enthusiast.

The Wild Escape Theme Park, the entertainment leg of the development, has encountered  a lengthy delay due to permit issues with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The County Commission is working hard to resolve these issues so the project can move forward. Mr. Steve Minard, president of Attraction Management Services, LLC, continues to lend his steadfast support to the project despite the delays.

The Wild Escape Theme Park will have both indoor and outdoor rides, amusements and noted entertainers. Hotels and spas will also be part of the overall development. Due to the expansive nature of the project the park will be constructed in multiple phases over the course of several years.

The Power Center was a hotbed of construction activity during the summmer of '07. In September, Books-A-Million opened their doors to an enthusiastic crowd of local and traveling book lovers. Fashion Bug, TJ Maxx and Michaels Arts & Crafts stores soon followed. For a listing of Power Center stores (and all others) be sure to check our store directory.

After much anticipation the new Olive Garden opened their tuscan-styled farmhouse restaurant on December 17 to an overflowing crowd of hungry patrons. Along with several other popular eating establishments at The Highlands, Olive Garden is sure to enjoy long-term support from their many loyal customers.

For movie enthusiasts a new 50,000 sq. ft., 14-screen, Marquee Cinema theatre will be opening in August, 2008. Construction on the theatre is progressing nicely as you'll notice when passing by Kohl's. The cinemas will surely be a popular destination for movie-goers of all ages this summer.
